No Imagination

I haven't ranted for a while so here it goes. Someone P'd me off...

Pictures are nice but are they always needed?
If someone gives you a recipe for soup. Do you have to see a bowl of soup to know whether you might like it? Can you not tell by the combination of ingredients if you will think it tastes good or not. One bowl of soup looks pretty much like another. It's not the look but the taste that makes it work. Presentation makes a difference but you can present anything in any way you want and the taste will not change.

Same for cake. Other than colors and the way someone applies icing, a cake is a cake. Do you really need a picture to tell you if it's good or not? Can you not read the ingredients and have a clue?

What happened to todays society that we feel a need to see... What became of imagination... Why on many recipe sites do I read complaints that there are no pictures...

Go for it. Eat a picture... Bet it don't taste to good!

I remember a news item that showed and told of all the work done and inedible items that were added to food to make pictures look so scrumptious that they were next to impossible to resist. I'm thinking it was about burgers for a national chain, but I'm not sure...
How about the cakes presented by the professionals that are sprayed with high gloss urethane to give them that shine... Would you even consider serving that to your guests...

I liken pictures of food to the pic's that guys look at in those girly magazines. Even those girls are adorned with makeup and perfectly fitted clothes (or not) with gloss added for effect, posed seductively in nearly impossible positions just to make them look good.
Just like food pictures people look at and then drool over something that is fake. They seem to never think, what is on the inside...

Personally I miss the old books that had few if any pictures. Those that were there were hand drawn and at least left a little to the imagination. Those books described scenes in detail that would let you see in your mind what things looked like.

Have all the pretty pictures and movies destroyed the ability to imagine for yourself what things look like...
Are we losing our own sense to look at words and then vision in our minds the articles we are reading about... Is your mind really that weak...

Maybe that is why we have so few inventors. To invent you have to take an idea. Imagine that idea. Form a mental picture. Then plan and begin to build what you imagine.
By becoming so dependent on pictures are we destroying the future...

Without a mirror or a picture do you exist? If you have no picture is there no tomorrow?
Could that be the reason so many people feel trapped... By losing their imagination they can no longer vision a better day ahead, a better day tomorrow...
By having no imagination can they never have success... How can they work towards their future, a dream job or even love if they can not mentally see what they want...
Without mental vision are we not trapped to be nothing but followers... Led around by a leash. Having carrots hung in front of us so we chase after them...

For the sake of humanity. Think of something you want or even a recipe. Close your eyes and look for it. Feel it with your mind. Smell it with your mind. Taste it... With your mind.

Don't be trapped by a picture of a double chocolate fudge cake with glistening icing.
I'm ornery... I may have covered a pile of cow poop with mud, then peed on it to make it shine... Can you see that? Can ya smell the pungent aroma? Want some?

If you rely on others to lead you, even with pictures... Can you possibly be “YOU”!
